The billionaire CEO of a copper fitting service company sued the company on Wednesday for failing to disclose a potential connection between a customer’s body fluid and copper fitting and causing serious health risks.
Billionaires David and Mary Jo Koch, who are also billionaires, sued copper fitting firm Tiara Copperfitters in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Tiara, based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, said in a statement it was cooperating with the lawsuit.
David Koch, the billionaire co-founder and CEO of Koch Industries, also owns the company’s namesake company, Koch Industries Inc. The Koch brothers own a combined $23.4 billion fortune.
In an article published by the LA Times, Tiara wrote that Tiara’s “primary mission is to help clients achieve the best possible results by providing the highest-quality products and services for their needs.”
“We will vigorously defend ourselves against this baseless and defamatory lawsuit,” Tiara said in the statement.
“We’re confident that our claims will be supported by the facts and will be resolved by the courts.”
In addition to the lawsuit, TiARA said it had begun an investigation into the company and plans to seek court approval to shut down.
TiARA is based in Denver, Colorado.
